There’s something truly magical about maternity photography—capturing the glow, the anticipation, the love that’s already blooming before baby arrives. At Diapers and I Do’s Photography, I believe every mama-to-be deserves to feel beautiful, empowered, and radiant during her session.
Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, here are my go-to maternity poses that flatter every body, every belly, and every beautiful season of motherhood.

1. The Classic Belly Cradle
Let’s start with a timeless favorite. Gently placing both hands under and above the belly draws attention to your bump and creates a naturally loving frame. It’s simple, elegant, and always emotional—especially when paired with a soft smile or a look down toward your belly.
📸 Tip: Shift your weight to one hip for a subtle, flattering curve in your silhouette.

2. Profile Power Pose
Turning slightly to the side (about 45 degrees) showcases your bump beautifully while keeping your face in the shot. This angle highlights your growing belly in the most graceful way, giving shape and dimension without ever feeling forced.
📸 Bonus: Add movement—walking slowly or gently swaying your dress—adds softness and flow.

3. Walking with Purpose (and Personality!)
One of my favorite ways to capture natural movement is to have you walk toward the camera or alongside your partner. It brings energy to the session and captures those genuine, in-between moments that are full of joy and life.
📸 Styling note: Flowy dresses look amazing in motion!

4. Partner + Belly Moments
When your partner is part of the session, there are so many sweet poses we can do:
Hands together on the belly
Forehead-to-forehead connection
Hugging from behind (with belly in full view)
Laughing while walking hand-in-handThese moments are so tender and really tell the story of shared anticipation.

5. Sitting in Serenity
Seated poses—on a blanket in a field, on a cozy chair, or even on a rustic bench—can be super flattering. They offer a relaxed vibe and bring variety to your gallery. Crossed legs or side-sitting angles work beautifully to keep the bump highlighted without pressure.
📸 Pro tip: I’ll guide you with hands and posture so everything feels natural (and comfortable!).

6. Silhouettes and Shadows
If the lighting is just right (hello, golden hour!), I love capturing side-lit or backlit bump silhouettes. They’re dreamy, dramatic, and incredibly artistic. These work especially well in outdoor or studio sessions with strong directional light.

7. Details, Details, Details
It’s not just about full-body poses—those close-up shots of your hands on your belly, your necklace resting above the bump, your partner kissing your forehead, or your little one hugging your tummy? Those details make your maternity gallery personal and emotional.
Let’s Celebrate Your Glow
You don’t need to be a model or know how to pose—that’s my job, and I’ll guide you every step of the way. All you need to do is show up as you are. Because no matter how you’re feeling, this moment in your motherhood journey is worth remembering.
